The One and Only Currency: Love

It is 11pm and I am laying in my covers, sliding window open wide, and a just over half-moon shines into my bedroom with golden tranquility. My home is peaceful. I feel together and blessed in all of my actions throughout the day, and my environment reflects this. There is order and beauty, but not overly so and the slight amount of chaos yet to be maintained makes me smile. There are a few objects in my room that bring extra warmth to my heart. A painting, a statue, a handmade garden trowel; they are all gifts from friends. They are reminders of generosity given between me and these humans of heart, mind and love, abundantly overflowing, alive with a message of peace and understanding. I am grateful to God for guiding me to a peaceful place within my heart and soul. I am grateful for the protection of my loved ones to my fragile psyche that often is under spiritual attack. I have learned much over these years, and it is proving itself to me through resiliency and happiness.

There is much to be grateful for in my existence, but friends are surely the most important. It is the people that God has sent into my life that bring me abundant blessing. They are examples of the constant overflowing of God’s love and plan. It is a plan for me to cherish the moment, love others and to learn. Friends take time, effort, understanding and sometimes money, and there is nothing on this planet more valuable. They are an opportunity to make an imprint on a human heart, and hopefully one is only sensitive and loving, creating increased space and love through our interactions with them. Making each other happy and feel acceptance fully is one of the grand reasons we are here. You could even take this as the solution to our planet’s crisis. Loving our friends may not make us rich and powerful, win us the better job or promotion, or preserve our status, but I feel it is the overall solution to our lost children, drug epidemics, homelessness, and fear. It could also be the prevention of our environmental crises, our fickle and abusive economy, our over use of fossil fuels, starvation and eventually war. Many of us know that peace and understanding is the cure, but how many of us practice this on a small level every single day by reaching out to a friend whatever the cost. It may even entail befriending someone who you fear may take from you, make you “ugly” or inconvenience your day. But I promise you the reward is tenfold. Nothing goes unnoticed in the eyes of a loving God. God is love, and this is the currency of our world; the one and only.
