When writing, I express what is as far deep as I can reach. Lifting the curtain of my toxic shame and my secrets is the goal; achieving rigorous honesty. While exposing parts of our selves that rarely see light, we only help ourselves understand our minds and bodies in greater capacity, as well as teach ourselves to love our beings maturely. I hope to cleanse the barrier between my consciousness and subconsciousness, and to birth light and purification unto my soul. What will come out may be blissful and inspiring, or gritty and thought provoking.
My poems come with a stroke, and not much thinking. I feel them and they appear, like all good things, I gather. Writing poetry has helped me in times of great confusion and suffering. I have pages in old journals and new. Everything on my Poetry Blog, are chronologically written poems, and are written specifically for, and in respect of, my practice of creating and contributing to WelcomeToTheGrit.
My original hope was to compile posts from The Writing and Poetry into a collective piece of work. This happened in 2017, with the publishing of my first book, “Glass Slippers: A Journey of Mental Illness”. Unfortunately my self-publisher Dog Ear Publishing went out of business and thus my book is currently out of print. My second collective work, “Questing Sanity” includes blog posts, poetry, and essays on Mental Illness. I am not currently seeking publishing for this manuscript and I have published the opening essays on WelcomeToTheGrit.
I have written a mini novella titled “Lucky Starr”, and a medium Sci-Fi story called “The Witness”, along with other creative writing and psychological commentary. My original memoir that I wrote when I was 23; “Besieged in the Looking Glass” was lost (years ago), and the hope is to someday re-type it and return it to digital formatting.
