Connection

Some of us are lucky

Do we know this?

Life pulls us through turmoil

Waves upon waves

Of challenging discourse

It feels much safer

To isolate

Yet it feels warm

To participate

I am a part of the human race

Joining with my fellow man,

I am humbled

I have community

I have patience

I am not alone in my darkness

Light enters slowly

And I work harder

Toward this participation

And in helping others

I realize my infinite connection

To this earth

To humanity

Reaching out

I am only comforted

I am not without help

For we are one and the same

We are connected
