Giving from the Heart

Generosity. It’s a term we are all familiar with. Some of us feel obligated to give, but do it for reasons that often unconsciously are not true to the pure purpose of being generous. I have found that when I have given in the past it was impulsive and clouded by underlining discomfort. After giving I would often retract the intention and become angry, the feeling of what’s right taking a tailspin downward to the feeling that what is truly righteous was preserving my wealth and things and keeping them to myself. I would think that I had done something wrong by giving a gift to someone. Also, another catch I discovered that was taking place was the fact that there were hidden expectations to my giving. I would hope that a person would change, become a better friend. I am unsure totally what the hidden motives were, but there were definitely strings attached and I was not giving from my heart.

I have found that even though my generosity was backfiring because it was not authentic, that once one can learn how to truly give, it does nothing but make one’s life so much richer and more meaningful. It pulls the clutches of fear that strangle me in my every day from my neck, and allows me to breath, enjoy life, and love others more completely. I realize how truly blessed I am, and my gratitude transforms my very cells into ones that can sit still, encompassing the perfection that life is meant to hold. If I have riches and wealth, which I do as an average American, and I do not share with others, think of others, have compassion for others, I never can fully realize what it is I truly have. Now I know all that I have is abundant, and while I let go of the controls on all that I have, which truly belongs to God, as I will take nothing from this world, I can actually smell the roses; I can taste the beauty in the abundance of my life.

Giving changes you. Once you open the doors of gratitude and generosity with a loyal and true heart, your outlook will change and you will truly be grateful, observe your blessings in life in their entirety, and you may find doors opening to you that you could never imagine available. God has amazing ways; he wants us to participate in His love. Let go of it all, give with an open heart and I guarantee you will find blessing at your doorstep that you never thought imaginable.
