Extinction

I had a dream

That the entire world

Fit on Lopez Island.

I happen to know

That the largest and most

Densely populated slum

In the world

Would fit on my nine acre

Property.

I believe this slum

Is/was in Palestine.

I was questioning Siri

On population density

In different parts of the world.

The least people per square mile

That I found

Besides Antarctica and the obvious

Were in Wyoming, USA.

So Why,

Did America and the other

World Powers,

Not put the Jews

In the middle of Wyoming

After WWII?

Not that that would make sense

Let’s just take the most complex

And Historically diverse

Community on the planet

That is very small

And plop a Nation

Right in the middle.

What were we thinking

Or were we thinking at all?

War is full of Trauma

And sometimes

When we are in the midst of

This trauma,

We lose the ability to think.

Hence the phone line,

The ten thousand pound phone

When you are trying to connect

Desperately with someone

In your broken family,

And it just doesn’t work.

This is how powerful

Trauma can be.

Still, we have to be

Responsible for our actions.

But how do we correct

Our in-corrections

When a century has passed, almost

And our actions

Have resulted in a genocide?

On that note,

How do we quit fossil fuels

Before the entire planet

Between the Tropic of Capricorn

And the Tropic of Cancer

Burns?

We are facing more than a genocide,

Or rather more than one genocide.

We are at risk

Of Mass extinction.

What should we read

To our children at night?

Should we tell them

The Truth?

What truth is that?

We are not required as

Human Beings,

As Children of God

And the Universe,

To believe what anyone

Has told us.

We MUST think

For ourselves.

Fact checking our own beliefs,

We must pursue

And question,

What we believe to be true,

And then

We must share this

With our children,

All the whilst

Teaching them

To think for themselves as well.

Just think first,

Do you want to be a part

Of our next genocide?

You don’t have to be,

Even If you were partly to blame

In some way

For Palestine

For Syria

The Sudan

Rawanda

Racism and Mass Incarceration

Or the Forests and Rivers

The Ice Caps and Polar Bears

The Gun Violence in our American Schools

The homeless, the addicted

Or Mentally Ill

The Disabled

The Sea Life, The Whales…

Are you rooting for extinction?

Or are you working to prevent it?

Take care with every step.

Pass wisdom on to the kids.

Find your own truth and serenity,

And help others find theirs.

Feed the Hungry.

Heal the Trauma.

Plant a Tree.

Make a difference.
