AMEN
Carry on. We must carry on. We must keep the faith, we must stay united. We must continue to search, question and pray. We are the people. A small gentle people that loves and suffers. We heal. We break through barriers. We are soft, gentle, and resilient in our nature. We must reach deep in order to find healing and our truth. We must take care of our very selves in order to stay true to ourselves, to set boundaries with our loved ones, and to ultimately take care of and support others. There is hope. We have hope in the darkness, and there will be light. At the end of this tunnel, something beautiful awaits us. WE are the chosen. We have been waiting for this; this redemption, this cleansing. It is okay, and it is okay to not be okay. We are the ordinary and the special. We can fight. We can become our best selves as we confront ignorance. Time is an element, but it is also eternal. We will find peace, both within and without, in this eternity.
I am crazy. This is a bad word. Like Retarded, Nigger, Chink… and I will stop there. There is enough hate in the world. It is okay to be us. I am not crazy, I am gifted. I am resilient. I am a survivor to a terrible illness. We may be persecuted in this world, we may be oppressed and ignored, literally caged behind bars or in a padded room, or by society saying our lives aren’t even worth being born. Our very value being questioned at every curve. But we, the disabled, the gifted, the beautiful, the “different”; we have a lot to teach the world. We are valuable. We are wise. We are the teachers, and we are our society’s redemption. It is okay. It is also not okay. But we can only pray that things will get better, for us and for others. Find the beauty in your soul that is yours and yours only. You are the chosen, God has chosen us to share a message of peace and healing. Thank you for sharing your gifts with us.
It is not always easy to be different, oppressed, abused, or rejected. Sometimes we lack words. Sometimes it all feels so blank, like a peace of paper with no words, like a beautiful bird with no voice or song to sing. But in this numbing silence, as we battle addiction, mental illness, prejudice, racism, homophobia, able-ness, and classism, we can take a breath. We can pause. We can take a moment to look within and find our voice. We have a choice. We choose to heal, we choose to speak, we choose to ascend into the light. Then, we are the chosen to guide the rest of the world to this light. Peace is on the horizon. There will be redemption. We are the redemption. We are the healing. We can heal the world. First, we must take care of ourselves and soothe the scars we bear, and the wounds of our suffering. I have hope and faith. I have faith in myself and I have faith in you. Be the peace that you want to see in the world. You are worth it. Amen.
